Computing for Beginners
This is a course designed for students with little or no knowledge of computing. If you have never used a mouse before or switched on a computer, this is the course for you. You will learn basic word processing skills, how to surf the internet and use email. This course continues to be very popular and this year we have a variety of times, days and venues certain to suit all learners.

Computing for Improvers
This is a progression course or for those with basic computing skills. Here you can increase your skills and knowledge, where you will learn Word and email in more detail, but also, depending on the students' requests, you can look at other Microsoft software such as spreadsheets and/or PowerPoint.

Beginners Computing Workshop
This course gives students with beginners computing knowledge an opportunity to consolidate the skills needed to begin to use computers in their daily life, explore some subjects in greater depth and to resolve any problems or questions they have.

Computing Skills for the Office
This course is running at the request of employment agencies who tell us they need skilled Administration staff. Here you will learn the key skills needed in an office, such as wordprocessing including mail merge and spreadsheets including formatting and formulas.

Excel
New courses for us this year are the 2 excel spreadsheets Weekend Workshops. Excel: An Introduction to Formulae & Functions is for students with an elementary knowledge of Excel who wish to develop their skills to the next level. You will learn how to use the SUM, AVERAGE and COUNT functions and how to create simple formulae. On the Excel: Presenting Your Data course you will explore some of the different techniques that can be used to present data in a professional way, including graphs and charts and pivot tables.

Use Your Own iPad NEW
Use Your Own iPad Workshop is for those who want learn to use basic apps and to load new apps. You will be shown how to use your iPad to organise your emails, notes, messages, calendar and social networks and how to keep your iPad safe and secure. You will also be able to use the iPad camera effectively and be able to edit your photos and notes.

Use Your Own iPad - Beginners is similar to the Worshop above and will provide an introduction to the basics of iPad and give you practical experience of using the key features available and the variety of ways iPad can be used. This course will be taught over 5 weeks as opposed to the one day workshop above.

Use Your Own Ipad - Intermediate follows on from the one above or if you have experience of using your iPad then this course is the one for you. You will learn how to Use Social network apps, Shop online, Edit and share images, photos and screen shots; write, edit and save documents; Synchronise your iPad to your computer, and use cloud storage to access your pc documents and pictures with the iPad.

Use Your Own iPad - Load, Edit and Share your Photographs covers the variety of ways photos, scans and pictures can be loaded onto the iPad. You will be shown the many ways to edit and add special effects to pictures and create collages using iPad apps. You will also be shown how to share finished images on social networks, by email or via ‘the cloud’ and how to keep your photos in an organised and accessible way.

Use Your Own Tablet
Beginners - If you do not have an iPad but have a Tablet, then this course will support you in getting the best out of it.

Scanning and Printing Workshop
This one day workshop will enable you to use the features of your printer/scanner to scan, save and print documents, art work and pictures. It will also help you to understand the print options available on the software which came with your printer and to save scans effectively.

Social Networking for Beginners
This is a one day workshop in which you will be able to find out about the range of social networks now available and how to use them safely. You will also learn how to get the most out of them and operate your account effectively. You will be able to Explore Facebook, Twitter, Skype, Linkedin, Pinterest and Interest Based Groups such as Flickr and Ravelry.

Digital Photography


Our popular Digital Photography Courses, like our Computing Courses, include something for the beginner and for those that are more experienced.

Digital Photography for Beginners (SLR Cameras)
This is a course aimed at those students who own a Digital SLR camera but have little or no knowledge of how to get the best from it. The course aims to improve confidence and skill and to help the student understand how to make these complex modern cameras work for them.

Digital Photography for Improvers (SLR Cameras)
This is a course which provides a continuation into the subject for those students who own a quality DSLR camera but who are unsure how to get the best from it creatively. You will explore some of the creative possibilities offered by these cameras and build on existing photographic knowledge.

Photoshop Elements Workshop
This course will give students an opportunity to explore the basics of Adobe Photoshop Elements and is aimed at individuals wishing to develop a basic understanding of the post production of photography and imaging. It is for students who wish to be able to successfully use a variety of tools and techniques to manipulate their images for personal use.

Video Editing
This will teach you how to capture your own home movies or video footage onto the computer and edit it into a film which can be exported as a computer file or to a disc as a DVD.


Saturday Courses - if you find attending week days difficult, why not enrol on our Weekend Workshops which run throughout selected weekends of the year.
