A short introductory course that provides a good foundation for studying the full GCSE Maths course which starts in September

When? Thursday, 7:00pm - 9:00pm from 25th April 2019 until 20th June 2019 for 8 weeks.

There are no classes on 30th May (Half Term holiday).
Where? The course is held in SPORTS CENTRE, Hailsham Community College Academy Trust, Battle Road, Hailsham East Sussex, BN27 1DT.

Course overview

A short introductory course for GCSE maths. It will provide a good foundation for following the full GCSE course commencing in September. You will build on your existing numerical and analytical skills giving a deeper knowledge and understanding of problem solving.

During the course

What you already need to know

You would be expected to have a basic understanding of number operations, fractions, decimals and percentages.

Students wishing to enrol on this course will need to complete a Maths Assessment and attend an interview with the course tutor prior to enrolment. Please contact the office on 01825 761820 for more information and to book your interview.
Interviews will be in the evening on either:
- 21st March
- 28th March

What you will learn

You will cover some aspects of number, algebra and statistics.

How you will learn it

You will study in a mix of situations eg whole group, paired work and individual work. Practical and ILT activities will also be used.

What do I need to bring to the first session?

Please bring pen, pencil and notepad to the first lesson.

How much extra study or practice is involved?

It is expected that you will need to spend at least 3-4 hours per week outside the formal course sessions to consolidate learning and practise newly acquired skills.
