Course overview
The course is ideal for anyone who has undertaken DSLR photography courses with ACRES but is also open to any keen photographers with basic IT skills.
Learners will have the opportunity to engage with a wide range of photographic editing techniques using Photoshop to improve their photography. Different techniques will be taught to improve different kinds of photographic images such as converting landscape images to dramatic black and white, and retouching portraits like a pro!

Saturday, 10:00am - 4:00pm on 14th May 2022 for 1 day.

The full fee is £58.00.
What you already need to know
Students should have basic computer literacy skills and be familiar with accessing the internet.
What you will learn
- Open, convert and save Jpeg and RAW files.
- Adjust exposure, colour, contrast and sharpness of images
- Rotate/Straighten and crop images
- Convert colour images to black and white like a master!
- Add text to an image to make gift cards, posters, etc.
- Develop images for use on the internet/email/social media and for
- printing.
How you will learn it
You will be taught with a presentation and live view demonstrations by the tutor that you can follow in a step by step format.
Time will be given for students to experiment and develop techniques and the focus will be on improving the students own images. Learning will also be supported with informative handouts for students to keep.
Bring to the first session
- USB stick containing images in both Jpeg and RAW that students have previously made.
- Notebook & Pen
** Please bring a packed lunch as food is not provided at the venue.** Tea, coffee and biscuits are available for purchase during breaks.
To avoid unnecessary costs please do not purchase any materials or textbooks until you are certain that your course will run. Course decisions are normally made a week prior to the course start date.

You may need to check your own house insurance to ensure that your property is covered outside of your home. Specific Covid Considerations:
In the event of restrictions being reintroduced and if the class is remaining in the venue, you will be informed of further safety measures. If the lessons cannot take place because the tutor has to isolate or in the event of government-imposed restrictions or lockdowns, every effort will be made to reschedule the missed classes. If it is not possible to continue the course in the venue it will be continued online. If this is not possible we will refund the outstanding lessons.
To ensure Safe Practice during practical sessions:
- Class numbers are reduced to allow students to space apart.
- Students should work at separate tables or desks.
- Hand sanitiser will be available in all classrooms.
- You are responsible for sanitising your own workspace before and after each lesson, anti-bacterial wipes or Specific Covid Considerations:
- From 24th February, following the government's announcement removing all domestic restrictions in England, we ask that you follow the published HSA guidelines.
- Asymptomatic testing will no longer be required to attend classes. However, we strongly suggest if you do have symptoms of Covid-19, you do not attend your class and follow guidelines found on www.NHS.uk.
- We ask individuals to continue to respect the personal choices of their tutor and fellow students.
- ACRES will continue to supply hand sanitisers in all classrooms
- Students will still be able to work social distanced or on separate tables if this is their choice
- Sharing of equipment will continue to be kept to a minimum, and wipes/spray provided for cleaning being handling
- Tutors and students may or may not choose to wear face coverings
