Course overview
Create fascinating cyanotype prints with camera-less photography. Using light-sensitive papers, you will create beautiful and unique cyan prints. You will learn to prepare and create a range of cyan print artworks and go home with your very own creations.
Cyan prints are created using the sun or UV lights. See what you can create!

Wednesday, 7:00pm - 9:00pm from 28th September 2022 until 23rd November 2022 for 8 weeks.
No classes 26th October (Half Term)
Cost
The full fee is £133.00.
The concessionary fee is £77.00.
What you already need to know
Suitable for complete beginners or those with a little experience.
What you will learn
- Preparing and using solutions to create a cyanotype print
- How to expose and develop a cyanotype print
- Experimenting with different materials (eg wood, canvas, cotton), negatives and methods of printing
- Experimenting with different composition techniques through exploring the history of cyanotype and different artists
- Create a series of unique and personalised cyanotype prints using the different skills and techniques learnt.
How you will learn it
- Tutor demonstrations
- Group and individual tuition
- Practical application
- Group discussion, and exploration of source material and the work of other artists.
- Sharing work and ideas via the use of Padlet
Bring to the first session
- Objects to make the prints from such as plants, textiles, feathers, netting, paper shapes etc.
- Apron
- Waterproof Gloves.
Basic materials are included in the course fee. Should you require something specific for a project, the tutor will advise you where to purchase it. Additional materials may be available to buy directly from the tutor.
Please do not purchase any materials or items until you know that your course will run to avoid unnecessary costs. Course decisions are typically made a week before the course start date.
Extra study or practice
You will be asked to research and find objects for your art creations.
