Course overview
If you are new to French, this fun and relaxed course with experienced tutor, Julie Marrel, is a great place to get started. Pick up some basic vocabulary, practise speaking and pronunciation as you explore the way of life in French speaking cultures
A beginners course will follow for those who wish to continue learning.

When
Monday, 6:15pm - 8:15pm from 18th September 2023 until 4th December 2023 for 10 weeks.
No class 23rd October (Half Term) 30th October
Cost
The full fee is £139.00.
The concessionary fee is £70.00.
What you already need to know
Suitable for complete beginners or those who wish to refresh the basics.
What you will learn
Topics will include:
- How to greet people
- How to order a drink and a meal
- How to give personal information about yourself and others
- Shopping for groceries
How you will learn it
This is an interactive course that is taught using a range of methods including:
- Practical application
- Tutor-led tuition
- Video and listening exercises
- Participating in role-playing
- Individual and group sharing of resources and knowledge via Padlet
Bring to the first session
- Pen and paper
- French dictionary (optional)
Extra study or practice
None required, but practising your vocabulary between classes will help you during the lessons.

01825 761820 on Monday to Friday between 9:30 am and 4 pm. Alternatively, to register your interest in a course please email
adultlearning@acres.org.uk with the course title and your contact details and a member of the team will call you back to enrol you on your chosen course.

Julie was born and raised in the region Lemanique (Lake Geneva, Switzerland), where she studied French, literature and history. She has over 10 years of experience as a tutor and is passionate about languages, history and culture. Alongside the structural elements, likes to incorporate everyday situations, songs, and humour into her lessons to make them as interactive and entertaining as possible.
