Course overview

ESOL courses are for people whose first language is not English. They are designed to help you gain the necessary skills that may be required for employment, education and day-to-day life in the UK.

This is a Speaking and Listening course for those who can communicate in spoken English but wish to develop English language skills in order to progress in further study, work or life.

This is Part 2 of 2 16 week courses. The Speaking and Listening qualification requires 120 hours of study. To be eligible to take the exam, students MUST attend Part 1 and Part 2.

The course is FREE to students on low income or receiving some kinds of benefits. Students who do not qualify for free courses can apply for a reduced fee. Please talk to us for more information.

Non ESFA eligible students can still enrol on this course but will pay the full non-funded rate which can be obtained from the ACRES Business Manager.
Where Uckfield Civic Centre, Civic Approach, Uckfield, East Sussex, TN22 1AE.
When Monday, 09:30am - 1:00pm from 19th February 2024 until 1st July 2024 for 16 weeks.

There are no classes on 1st, 8th April (Spring holidays), 6th May (Bank Holiday), 27th May (Half Term)

Cost The full fee is £453.00. The concessionary fee is £0.00.

During the course

To make good progress in English and particularly if you want to gain a qualification, you are expected to attend all classes unless you are ill or have an emergency.
Students whose attendance drops below 80% will be removed from the course.

Classes are for students only. No children, hosts or other family members may attend.

What you already need to know

You do not need to have an ESOL qualification before taking this course, but you will need to have sufficient experience of speaking and using English to join the existing course. You will be assessed to make sure you join the right course for you. Students joining the course in February will not be eligible to take an exam.

In a small, friendly class with an experienced ESOL tutor who will use a range of teaching methods.
As the main focus of the course is Speaking and Listening you will be encouraged to participate actively in spoken activities.

No food or drink brought in from outside to be consumed in the classroom. (Water allowed)

Extra study or practice

You will be given some tasks to complete between lessons.
Practise using English as much as possible.
