Course overview
Find out for yourself how Hatha yoga can help you to embrace a state of true relaxation. Learn how to step away (however briefly that may be) from the frenzied pace of everyday life; practice movements and breath work that will enable you to concentrate on the present and promote a feeling of tranquility.

Thursday, 12:30pm - 1:30pm from 1st February 2024 until 8th February 2024 for 2 weeks.
Cost
This course is FREE as part of the Street Learning Partnership between ACRES and Wealden District Council.
What you will learn
- Practise yoga postures from the two major movement groups to improve flexibility and strength.
- Access and improve your personal movement range with regard to flexibility and strength within the postures.
- Breathing techniques that will promote a feeling of relaxation and are renowned for enabling mental and physical well-being.
Who is this course for?
This taster course is for beginners. It is aimed at those who are new to yoga and would like to try a short course before perhaps committing to a longer course.
If you already have some experience of yoga you might wish to join one of our existing yoga courses. Further details can be found on this website or in our online brochure.
To be able to participate in the taster course
- A degree of mobility is required. You will have access to a chair for support.
- This course is not suitable for those in the early stages of pregnancy (16 weeks or before) or pregnant. We would recommend looking for a specialist prenatal or pregnancy yoga course.
- Students will be taught how to work within their personal movement range.
- All students are required to complete and return a pre-course health questionnaire before the first session.
How you will learn it
This is a practical course reinforced by demonstration. Movements are chronologically ordered so that you are able to build techniques that are beneficial to you. You are encouraged to reflect on your body movements and breathing in order to create techniques and routines that are personal to your needs.
Bring to the first session
To help us manage spacing in the room, we ask you to only bring the items you need to do the class.
- A large bath towel or yoga mat. Please note there are no communal mats at the venue.
- A small cushion (optional).
- Loose comfortable clothing and prepare to remove shoes and socks.
Extra study or practice
In order to progress and continue to feel the benefits of this course, we suggest you create your own routine to practise at home.
